Palio di Siena

The Palio di Siena is an equestrian race of medieval origin, where Siena’s 17 “contrade”, or city wards, compete. The race is typically held in Piazza del Campo twice a year: July 2nd and August 16th. Exceptionally, the Sienese community can decide to carry out an “Extraordinary Palio”. This is not a tourist-oriented event, but rather the life of the Sienese people. Its very ancient origins and certain regulations have been valid since 1633, when the first Palio had run with horses. If you wish to participate in the event, please contact us.
